Rules without Relationship breed rebellion and this is exactly where God’s kids seem to be living today. So many books on the “how to” of finding that relationship of love without retaliation for our imperfections all require follow a list or a 12-step program of rules to freedom. This is not so in this book. Not many Christian books move my heart on the level that this book has. In this book, John helps us to understand that the nature of God is based on who He is and not how we see Him, especially through a lens of unhealed issues in our personal relationships. So many have never understood what Jesus really did at the cross. He died not just for our salvation but to example how relationship between a child and Father works. I am reminded of my own healing journey to knowing how much I am loved by a kind Father and not an angry God. I am not one to follow a list of rules on relationship, but I am one that loves the promises that a kind Father offers us. John shares his journey and path of his personal revelation of coming to know Jesus as more than fire insurance but a way that produces a life that most people desire. While he gives us the Word to stand on, he gives us hope to a pathway of belonging without the performance of the perfection stigma attached. The Father wants this as much as we do according to Galatians, where Paul tells us that our Father has intense cravings to be with us and for us. Grab a tissue, this book will make you cry. It will anger you at times, but the goals have been accomplished, that being to help the reader find an image of Love from a kind Father. Good Job John.
